The importance of freestyle

Jazz Musician Eluard Burt is mainly talking about freestyle in the context of rap, but is also speaking in part of the culture of Black people and our creative spirit, which also speaks to jazz musician and musicians in general. Be it called freestyle, improve, ad-lib, dashed off, off the cuff, off hand, played by ear, shot from the hip, spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment, unpremeditated, unprepared, unscripted, unstudied, vamped, whipped up, it’s unrehearsed and can’t be recreated.
